Homemade Sauces Made Simple

When I was a beginner cook I liked to keep the homemade sauces made simple.

I learned to keep on hand:

  • olive oil
  • soy sauce 
  • fresh garlic
  • fresh onions
  • tomato paste

These ingredients were my basics for spaghetti sauces, white sauces, BBQ sauces and teriyaki sauces.

Oh I loved those days when I had so much time to cook! And I loved having dinner parties where I would shop at a local market and spend all day making a 5 course dinner from scratch.

Nowadays I have found that there are excellent prepared products amply flavored with tasty spirits!

Not only are they handy for me, but they make excellent gifts for the other busy cooks I know.

I definitely feel a nostalgia for those days (sniff!) -- but on the other hand I love the quick recipe dress ups with prepared high quality sauces.

Here is a video showing a 4 ingredient BBQ sauce. Really handy!
